The drone I got from Amazon significantly cheaper than I could have from the high street
I always thought the days of shopping around and visiting different websites to get the best price were well and truly over. Okay, you can generally save yourself a few quid but the big online savings are long gone as most sites tend to charge around the same price for stuff – or so I thought…... You may be wondering where I am going with this, especially with it being a drone blog, but stick with it.
When I bought my learner drone, a Hubsan X4 H107C drone I used Amazon. Amazon is my first port of call for many purchases and the reasons are as follows:-
When I bought my Hubsan X4 H107C drone I didn’t bother checking any other website and got it straight from Amazon.
One of my work colleagues had very recently purchased a drone as a birthday gift for her nephew, which turned out to be a bit of an impulse buy. Rather than tell me about the drone my work colleague thought she would show me (got to love modern day technology) so she called up the website where she bought it so I could check it out.
My work colleague bought the drone from Maplin and when I saw the online price tag of £69.99 my jaw hit the floor. The drone my work colleague was showing me was a Hubsan H107C in black and green, with the 2MP HD video camera. It was the exact drone I bought just a few days prior from Amazon for £31.20. In this instance Maplin is £38.79, i.e. two and a quarter times, more expensive than Amazon. Wow!
The Hubsan X4 H107C available from Maplin for the extortionate sum of £69.99
The same Hubsan drone available from Amazon for the sum of £31.20
I wasn’t sure if my work colleague had given her nephew the drone yet so I didn’t mention that I paid less for it. I decided to be diplomatic and ask if she had given it to him, and when she said that she had I kept quiet. I didn’t see the point in telling my work colleague she should have gone to Amazon as this would seem like I was rubbing it in, which isn’t nice and isn’t my style.
The moral of the story is to head over to Amazon right away, or at least shop around because buying from a shop like Maplin, which I always thought was competitively priced, could end up being a very costly mistake.
