The Hubsan X4 H107C mini drone is a fantastic quad that will teach you all the skills necessary to become a “proper” drone pilot. The Hubsan H107C has an HD on board camera, and whilst it doesn’t link up to the controller for an FPV flying experience it does give you the chance the record some video footage to see what it would be like to sit in the cock pit with you at the controls.
As you’d expect the camera on the Hubsan X4 H107C mini drone is as basic as they come and is a “plug n play” solution, which means it is fully automatic. There is no way to tweak, let alone control the exposure and it is the camera that decides the ISO, the shutter speed and the aperture.
The camera on board the Hubsan X4 H107C mini drone doesn’t have image stabilisation and it isn’t mounted on a gimbal head either. The footage captured with the on board camera is shaky and has the jello effect, and whilst you can apply a stabiliser filter in some video editing software, it won’t do a very good job at getting the footage smooth and/or shake free.
Even though Hubsan claims the camera as “HD” the image quality is pretty terrible, but all things considered this is to be expected. The Hubsan H107C mini drone is ridiculously cheap so there is no way it would ever have a decent camera on board, and to think otherwise would be naïve.
I have read several Hubsan H107C reviews claiming the camera to be “excellent” and can capture “awesome video footage”. Based on my experience with the Hubsan H107C mini drone these reviews are over-egging the on board camera and making it out to be something it isn’t. Sure, the image quality of the on board camera is okay, but you won’t be capturing professional looking video with it.

To be brutally honest I am struggling to see what you can use video footage captured with the H107C mini drone. The image quality isn’t there for professional looking videos or any commercial use. The quality of video varies depending on the conditions (amount of light, intensity of the light and direction of the light) and on a good day the footage is just about good enough for public sharing on social media sites. On a bad day, the image quality is terrible and not even good enough to share with family and friends.
If you want a drone for aerial photography the Hubsan X4 H107C mini drone is not for you. If, however, you want a drone to learn how to fly or want a drone that is great fun and a total riot to fly the Hubsan H107C mini drone is definitely one you should take a look at.
