After several agonising hours of reading reviews and watching Youtube clips I have decided the folding travel drone that is going to suit my needs the best out of the Wingsland S6 and Zerotech Dobby is……… The Wingsland S6. The Zerotech Dobby is cheaper than the Wingsland S6 but there are a few features on the S6 that are not on the Dobby, and I am prepared to pay a bit extra to have these features.
If you read my earlier post about buying one from the US and getting it imported to the UK, you will know that as well as struggling to choose between the Wingsland S6 and the Zerotech Dobby I also had the agonising decision to make where to buy the drone.
I would save a ton of cash buying the Wingsland S6 from the US, but I feel there are too many risks involved in doing this. The US Company I would use is B&H Photo and I have no problems with giving them my credit card details whatsoever.
What I do have a problem with is the delivery service, and being stung with foreign purchases before I am a little sceptical. Products go “missing” in the post when bought from the UK, and the chances of this will increase if I put some international delivery in the mix. I could be totally wrong, and worrying about nothing and the S6 could arrive in a timely manner but then again, it may not. If the delivery process goes wrong trying to sort it out is not only a faff but also a frustrating process.
Another problem I have with buying the drone from the US is how to deal with matters if the drone is faulty or damaged in transit. Returning the drone would cost a fortune, and any savings made on buying from the US would be totally wiped out. In fact, if this were to happen buying the drone from the US would end up being more expensive than if I bought from the UK in the first instance. Dealing with UK returns is bad enough, but dealing with international returns would be horrible, and I don’t want to go through that. Once again, I could be being a little too cautious here and everything could be fine, but I am not prepared to take the chance.
Even though buying the Wingsland S6 drone has ended up costing me about £84 more than I needed to spend I feel I have made the right choice.
As I am sure you have guessed from the intro picture I have bought my Wingsland S6 from Drones Direct, and it is being delivered tomorrow. Let’s just hope the transaction goes smoothly (I have nothing to make me think it shouldn’t) so I can get my hands on the Wingsland S6 and take it for a test fly.
