The Transer case for the Hubsan 501S - Don't waste your money on this
After spending ages trying to find the “perfect” bag for my Hubsan 501S drone I thought I had it nailed when I found the Trnaser hard case (check out ) Now I have had the case for a while, and used it I thought I would provide a quick update………
When I stumbled on the Transer case I thought I had found the perfect bag. According to the description on Amazon this case is tough and durable and has pre-cut compartments specifically sized to fit the Hubsan 501S drone and all it accessories. At £50 the case was very expensive, there were far cheaper alternatives available but these were all padded bags, but if it did the job and would protect my drone and all the accessories I was prepared to spend the money.
The bottom line is the Transer case for the Hubsan 501S drone is not fit for purpose. It looks good, and I was impressed when I took delivery and cast my eye over it, but the pre-cut compartments are totally the wrong size and shape to hold everything in place.
I loaded the case with the Hubsan 501S drone, controller, 3 batteries, battery charger, spare propellers, sun shade for the controller, propeller tool and camera cleaning cloths and when I picked up the case and went to put it on my back everything fell out of the compartments and “clanged together”. I bought the Transer case to protect my drone in transit, and because everything rattles around in the case it is more likely to damage my drone in transit. I have to say that I am less than impressed.
Since I bought the Transer case from Amazon I thought returning the case and getting my money back so I could buy something that actually worked and was fit for purpose would be easy. It turns out that I am totally wrong.
Short clip showing the fun and games I had buying a case for the Hubsan 501S drone
I bought the Transer case from a third party seller and all issues have to be directly through the third party. Whilst the seller has been answering emails the correspondence did not go well. I finally got the seller to agree to a refund but I have to pay the return postage, which on a product the size of the Transer hard case is damn expensive and half the cost of the case. The seller has, of course, said that all postage costs will be refunded but after my dealings with the seller I had my doubts. I mean, getting them to agree to the refund in the first place was hard enough! I requested a pre-paid label or Pass My Parcel label, like what Amazon do, and the seller basically refused.
The returns address the seller provided was also very suspect. Being a significant third party seller on Amazon I was expecting a warehouse or some actual business premises. When I street mapped the address it was a small private property in a “less than desirable” street in the Midlands. Hmmmm…… Am I really going to pay to return a product to a difficult seller in some dodgy looking street in the Midlands? Am I really going to get my money back which would be the cost of case and also the return postage? I think not………………..
I have been duped with a nasty drone case that is totally useless. I would normally say “cheap and nasty” but this case was anything but cheap, and there is nothing I can do about it. It’s a shame, because I have used Amazon for several years and have had no problems, but in the past I have always used Amazon itself and not a third party seller.
If you have a Hubsan 501S drone or any other Hubsan drone and are looking for a hard case please don’t make the same mistake I did and buy from this third party seller. You may strike it lucky and get a case that does what it’s meant to but you could also have exactly the same issues I have had. Are you willing to take the risk? The Transer hard cases aren’t cheap and you could lose quite a bit of money, and money you could have spent buying drone accessories from Amazon itself. Just a little food for thought there.
This experience has taught me never to use third party sellers and always stick to products fulfilled by Amazon. The problem is the majority of accessories for the Hubsan drone 501S are only available from third party sellers, which is a bit of a problem.
BEWARE OF THIS SELLER!!
I thought with the high positive rating I wouldn't have any problems at all. I guess the "happy" customers didn't have to return the product or perhaps the were given free products to test and report on? Whatever, be careful if you use this supplier.
