DJI Spark - The replacement for my Hubsan 501S that gave up the ghost
My first drone was a Hubsan 501S and it lasted just two flights before giving up the ghost and failing. I knew I should have bought a decent drone in the first instance, but I decided to be tight and bought a cheap and cheerful Hubsan 501 instead. Needless to say I learned from my mistake and replaced the 501S drone with a DJI Spark, the drone I should have bought at the outset.
Choosing which drone to buy isn’t easy and I spent hours reading and researching before finally choosing to buy a Hubsan 501S drone. Choosing to buy the DJI Spark was less of a faff and once I had decided I was going to have to stick my hand in my pocket and spend quite a bit of money deciding on the DJI Spark was very quick, and the reasons I chose to buy the DJI Spark include:-
It gets rave reviews. The majority of DJI Spark reviews I have read are not just positive, they are very positive. Sure, there are a few negative Spark reviews out there on the world wide web, but more than 90% of them are positive. Given the rave reviews I quickly reached the conclusion the DJI Spark is a highly respected and liked drone.
It is made by DJI. DJI is a big player in the world of drones and aerial photography. DJI have been around for ages, they have loads of top quality products, it is a company that is innovative and knows what it is doing and it has a good track record. DJI aren’t some fly by night cowboy company that is going to disappear in to the ether without a trace, and they are a company worth buying from.
It is small and discreet. I am the sort of person that likes to blend in to the background and stay out of the public eye as much as I possibly can, and I want my belongings to be like this too. I prefer products that are understated, discreet and don’t attract too much attention, and the DJI Spark is one of these drones.
It is full of features. The DJI Spark is full of technology and has advanced features found on drones that are far more expensive. It’s one thing having plenty of features but if they don’t work the product isn’t worth buying, right? The good news is, the DJI Spark not only has all of these advanced features but they are all fully functioning and work the way they should to.
It has a good quality camera. One of the main reasons I wanted a drone was to capture great aerial footage and stills, which obviously requires a good camera. The camera on the DJI Spark is a cracking little camera that is capable of capturing awesome HD videos as well as high quality still photos too. For the cost of the DJI Spark you won’t find a drone with a better camera.
It is top value for money. The DJI Spark is very well built, it is full of technology and features and it is competitively priced. Overall the DJI Spark is to value for money and if you want a lot of bang for your buck this is the drone to buy. There isn’t a better value money drone on the market, and we all want value for money right?
There are loads of DJI Spark accessories. If you want to get the most out of a drone, and I mean any drone, you are going to need some accessories for it. There are plenty of drones in the market that have very few, if any available accessories and these drones are best avoided. This is not the case with the DJI Spark as there are loads of top quality accessories that enhances the Spark experience and makes it more enjoyable to fly. The range of accessories is vast and includes the normal spare batteries and propellers (both of which are very important) as well as things like camera filters (to improve stills and video footage), landing/take off pads (to stop the Spark getting dirty/scratched/damaged), gimbal/propeller protectors and bags to name just a few.
There is an active forum. The DJI forum is huge and with a “DJI Spark” specific section there is a wealth of experience and knowledge to tap in to if you ever need it. Whatever problems and issues you are having with the Spark it is highly likely many others have experienced the same and have a resolution. Asking forum members how to do things, resolve specific issues etc. not only keeps you flying but also adds a social aspect to owning a Spark, which is nice.
The DJI Spark is an excellent drone and highly recommended. As annoying as having my Hubsan 501S drone fail was it was probably the best thing that could have happened and was a blessing in disguise as it forced my hand and made me buy the DJI Spark and I couldn’t be happier.
You can buy the DJI Spark from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk and eBay.com
