MOBILE BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES

I have come to the conclusion that mobile boudoir photography services is the way forward. There are many people out there who want to model for a boudoir shoot but will not go through with it. Common reasons for not going through with the boudoir photo shoot are embarrassment, feeling uneasy about being dressed in skimpy clothing (or fully undressed) in alien surroundings, and feeling sleazy amongst other things. Mobile boudoir photography services alleviate all of these issues.

If the model is in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by things they know and love they will feel more comfortable and go through with the shoot. A model that feels at ease will act more natural and this will result in a better photo. I find that when a model is in the privacy of their own home they do whatever they want and need to in order to get the type of shot they want, and I find that my level of input and direction is virtually non-existent. When I work from the model’s home I typically find the model takes full control over the situation, and all I need to do is be there with the camera, making sure the lighting is spot on, making sure the exposure is right and pressing the shutter button.

Mobile photography services don’t just benefit the models, oh no they also benefit the boudoir photographers too. Being mobile and working in the home of the models means you don’t need your own studio. Running a studio is expensive, and if you are going to make any money you have to cover these costs (and some) in the fee you charge the models. If you don’t have any studio costs you can charge less, undercut the competition and gain more work.

Another thing I have found offering mobile boudoir photography services is that I don’t have to provide any props, which saves even more money. I find the models have all the props they want to use in the photo shoot at home, or if they don’t they will get them specifically for the shoot. Yep, I don’t have to provide anything at all.

When you provide mobile boudoir photography services you need to make sure that you, and the model are fully protected. Before any mobile boudoir photo shoot I meet with the model and their partner/spouse/significant other to discuss the shoot, discuss the types of photos required and to make sure that all parties are one hundred percent happy with everything. During the meeting I tailor a contract and get all parties to sign it. If there are any objections (and I have experienced it from a model’s partner in the past) I will not take the photos.

If the model lives alone I request they have a friend or family member present at the meeting and to witness the contract. This is mainly for my protection, I don’t want to be accused of any wrong doing because this would not only damage my photography career but also my life, and the lives of my nearest and dearest. The contract is also for the protection of the model, and whilst I would never do anything wrong towards the model, the model doesn’t know that (after all I am a stranger to them) and signing a contract will give them a peace of mind.

When it is time for the boudoir shoot I request the third party present at the initial meeting is present during the shoot. If the model doesn’t want them in the room where the boudoir shots are being taken that’s fine, as long as the party is within ear shot that is all I ask. Once again, this is to protect both myself and the model.

Mobile boudoir photography is something I am pushing and I am getting quite a good uptake for it. As well as individuals I am starting to get group bookings, bridal party bookings, hen night bookings, charity calendar party bookings and office bookings. Being mobile and only having to provide my time, the equipment and the time in the digital dark room means I can keep costs low, undercut the competition and take the photos the models want in the privacy of their own homes. It is a win-win situation all round.
